Email Domain is catchall

What this tool does

This tool checks whether an email domain is set up to accept email messages sent to any address, even if those addresses do not actually exist. It does this by either using a previously recorded result or by sending a test message to a random, fake email address on that domain.

Keep in mind that the check might not always be successful. If the domain's mail server blocks test messages or does not give a clear answer, the tool may return an inconclusive result or simply show that it is not active. The accuracy of this check depends on the specific settings of the email domain's mail server.

Common uses

  • Identifying email domains that might generate high volumes of invalid or unverified email addresses.
  • Assessing the risk of data quality issues when collecting user email addresses on forms.
  • Filtering out domains that are known to accept all incoming mail to improve the reliability of your contact lists.
