Distance is greater
What this tool does
This tool checks whether the distance between two places on a map is longer than a specific limit. You provide the location of the first place, the location of the second place, and the distance limit in kilometers. The system calculates the actual straight-line distance between these two points and compares it to your limit.
Keep in mind that the distance is calculated as a straight line on the surface of the earth, not a driving route. Also, the system uses a simple mathematical estimate for the earth's shape, so the result is an approximation rather than a precise measurement.
Common uses
- Checking if a delivery location is within a specific service radius.
- Verifying if two office locations are far enough apart for business travel.
- Filtering data based on geographical proximity.
Input data
| Parameter | Required | Example | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
coordinates1 | Yes | 41.2522,-12.10 | Enter the first location as latitude and longitude separated by a comma (e.g., 41.2522,-12.10). |
coordinates2 | Yes | 41.2522,-12.50 | Enter the second location as latitude and longitude separated by a comma (e.g., 41.2522,-12.50). |
distance | Yes | 30 | Enter the distance limit in kilometers as a number (e.g., 30). If you enter invalid text, the system uses 0 as the limit. |
Output data
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
result | Returns true if the actual distance between the two locations is greater than your entered limit, or false if it is not (e.g., true). |
