TIN exists (VIES)
What this tool does
This tool checks if a Tax Identification Number (TIN) is valid and registered in the European Union. It works for both companies and individuals.
Common uses
- Verifying customer VAT details before sending an invoice.
- Checking if a business partner is registered in the EU tax system.
- Ensuring you can legally remove VAT from a B2B invoice.
When it fails
- service-unavailable: The official registry was temporarily unreachable. The platform retries and then reports this; no charge is made.
- unsupported-country: The country code is not part of the EU VAT scheme. No charge is made.
Note on cost
A real check costs the listed price. If the registry is unavailable (service-unavailable) or the country is unsupported, the call is free.
