Credit card type by number
What this tool does
This tool checks a credit card number to see if it is valid and identifies the brand. It returns a simple yes/no indicator in the result field, plus the brand name if the number is valid.
Please note that this check is not a live payment verification. It only validates the number’s format and structure against known patterns. It does not check if the account exists, has funds, or can be charged. It also cannot receive email or contact the card issuer.
Common uses
- Validating customer-entered card numbers before checkout.
- Filtering out obviously incorrect or mistyped numbers from forms.
- Automatically selecting the correct payment icon based on the brand.
