Root domain by web address
What this tool does
This tool extracts the main web address (domain) from a full web link (URL). It removes unnecessary parts like 'www.' and file paths, leaving only the core domain name, such as turning 'https://www.example.com/page' into 'example.com'.
The tool only works for links that clearly start with a web protocol like 'http' or 'https'. If the link is missing or does not look like a web address, the tool will not return a domain name.
Common uses
- Cleaning up a list of customer website links to find the main domain.
- Identifying which company or website a link belongs to.
